4.0 out of 5 stars Swagman Yakart Kayak, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Swagman Yakart Kayak Cart (Sports)
Great product. The frame is solid, the dual kick stand opens and closes with a nice snap. Very happy. The wheels come off with simple clip/pin. The unit rolls very well. Only problems/complaints are the straps they give you are stupid..super long and with a weenie cheap cam lock. Dump the straps and use a single long good bungie cord. You can strap the chord around your kayak and anchor it at convienent clip holes located on the cart down low by the tires, you'll see this clip hole on the unit where the small straps attach to the kick stand. One other thing: filling the tire tubes with air is a pain as the air valve stem, which is long enough, keeps diving back into the wheel rim as you try to attach a pump. Then it's hard again to get your pressure gage on the air valve. Once filled though, the air pressure stays good and the tires, and the unit, work and roll great across any surface or dirt trails. Good buy at less then $100. I know these kayak carts seem pricey as you can... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Could Not Pump Tires, May 22, 2010

I ignored the other review about the tires and purchase this product anyway because of the price. I ended up sending it back because there was no way to inflate the tires with a standard tire pump because of the location of the air stem. It is too close to the rim of the tire. I tried multiple pumps, and I looked at the store for other pumps that might work with no luck. I ended up getting the Scupper Pup Boat Carrier instead, and it works great! If you have a sit-on-top kayak, I highly recommend the Scupper Pup because you do not have to deal with strapping the kayak to the wheels. The Scupper Pup has two rods (the width is adjustable) that go through the scuppers in the rear of the kayak. Also, the wheels are far superior to the wheels on this product.

It does the job. I can take my 75lb Hobie Odyssey anywhere I need with ease, alone, even along beaches and grasses. Otherwise, it would be hard for me and my wife to move it together.

Pros:
- Strong and sturdy
- The tire is wide, and can adapt to various surfaces.

Cons:
- When fold/unfold, it is not difficult to get your fingers in between. Learned it after a couple of times.
- The cords are truly useless. Instead, use bungee cords. I use 2, one for the front and one for the back.

Quirks:
- As one of the reviewer mentioned, it can be tricky to inflate it. Don't do it at home with a bike pump. Go to the gas station. Even if you can put the nuzzle in, it would be pretty much impossible to inflate it at home. The reason is, the air needs to flow rapidly to inflate it, like any other tires without an inner tube. In the mean time, make sure you don't blow it up at the gas station given its small size.
