fast and stable, March 14, 2012 By This review is from: Old Town Saranac 146 XT Recreational Family Canoe with Padded Seats, 14-Feet 6-Inch (Sports) when i ordered this canoe it was because i read reviews i found online. that said there were not many to be found. when i first got the boat it took me about 2 days to get it in the water since then I've been in the water at least once a week fishing. I've gone solo, with a friend, and with two friends. By myself the canoe is easy enough to handle and sitting in the middle i can use a kayak paddle to get myself around. If you have two people a couple of oars work fine as well. i would however say that if your fishing for red drum that you set two anchors to keep the boat from turning and wrapping both of you in line. i would not advise 3 adults in the canoe at once, no matter what the weight rating is, when the canoe is heavy it turns easy. It tracks great and moves over the water fast and smooth I've used the boat in brackish water and fresh, windy choppy conditions, rain and shine. it does get scratches easy but thats the least of my worries. material is sturdy. do get a dry storage... We have not owned a canoe before, and this model is a great starter, the seats make it comfortable and relaxing.

It is sturdy and solid with comfortable seat for this old fart! Also, the gentleman delivering the canoe was awesome. We live down an extend dirt lane & his semi wouldn't fit. He helped me load the canoe onto my truck and securely tie it down. then made sure I was safely taking it back down my lane before he left to continue his deliveries. This shows me great service and I would purchase from this company again
