This is the second kayak cart I've bought in the past month, because the first cart wasn't up to the job (too small/unbalanced/a strain to pull). I recently purchased a 10' kayak with the idea that my kids and I would be able to pop it onto a kayak cart and pull it the 1/2 mile from our house to the Charles River. My goals were independence, simplicity, and ease of use. The Malone cart is well designed, sturdy, and very easy to load and use (even solo). With the cart centered between bow and stern, the kayak's weight is perfectly balanced so that rolling it along is effortless-- I can literally pull the kayak with one finger!! At the launch site the cart stowed away in seconds: pull pins on the axel allowed me to stow its wheels in the drywell and the metal cart frame folded down and I bungeed it to the bow. I have looked at and researched many styles of carts. This is the best cart under $100 that I have seen. It arrives in a solid box and takes one minute to put the tires on ... ready to go. The wheels are wider apart than many carts so it is more stable on uneven ground. The design is simple and the manufacturing is well done. The wheels are inflatable, but they feel like they will work even if punctured ... the tire material is very stiff. The tires are thick enough to go over rocks and gravel and are not the best, but are usable, in sand. Malone is a good company and this is a good, well priced, product.
By the way, if you regularly have to walk over 100 feet with your kayak, wheeled carts are the way to go. I walk mine a 1000 yards every outing. The Malone cart makes the "to and from" walks safe and easy.
I give this 5 stars for the quality at this price. Did I mention the Malone lifetime guarantee?

Very sturdy, October 1, 2011 By This review is from: Malone Clipper Deluxe Universal Kayak Cart (Sports) I received this as a gift. It seems very sturdy (holds up to 200lbs). I tried it out over some ruff terrain the first day and it does well. We even stacked our two 14' kayaks on it and pulled it down to the water like that (the straps are long enough to fit over both). It was a bit tippy, but made moving them both a lot easier.
Be prepaired to have a pair of needle nose pliers to inflate the tires when you get it. The air valve is a little hard to reach and inflate at the same time, the pliers makes it a bit easier. There is also a very strong smell that comes with it. My house still has the smell a few weeks later, so if you are sensitive, put it outside for a while to air out.
My only reason for a 4 star review is the size. I was hoping it would fit inside the hatch of my kayak. It is very wide and while the wheels come off it does not make it small enough to fit inside my large rear hatch. I can solve the problem my using a bungee cord and straping it to the back of my...
